Senior Animals in Need Today Society (SAINTS) is an animal rescue organization in Mission, British Columbia.

Like the Employee Handbook, the Volunteer Handbook is a revision and re-write of a previous handbook that was a mix of authors and writing styles.

After consultation with the client, we determined the revision would:

• Have a clear and unified writing style. There was no existing company style guide, so we opted for consistent active voice and plain language.
• Be easy to read and comprehend. After revisioning the document outline, the manual was cleared of jargon, duplicate content, and verbose language.
• Present a welcoming and professional image. We used the organization branding in subtle ways, and included photos of people with the animals at SAINTS.
• Allow for quick updates and future revisions. The client was provided with .docx and editable .pdf formats for both web and print.
